The Lowchen are active and alert. The
coat and the tail are clipped and are topped with plume and this gives
them the look of a small lion. They are strongly built and are very
active. They are well balanced and alert.
These dogs are gay, happy are very
lively little dogs. They are intelligent, affectionate and shows no
sign of aggression.
The head is short and skull is wide in
portion. The nose is coloured according to the colour of the coat.
The eyes are dark and large. The ears
are pendant, long and are well fringed. At the mouth, the jaws are
strong with completely perfect and regular scissor bite.
The neck is proudly arched with good
length.
The forelegs are straight and fine. The
shoulders are well laid back.
The body is short but strong with good
proportion. The ribs are well sprung.
The hindlegs are well-muscled with good
turn of stifle and looks straight when viewed from the rear. The feet
are small and round. The tail is of medium length and is clipped
leaning a tuft of hair to resemble a plume. The movement is free and
is parallel fore and aft. They do not show any hackneyed action.
The coat is fairly long, wavy, fine and
silky but not curly. Any colour combinations are permissible. The
height is from 25-33 cm (10-13 inches) at withers.
The males should have two apparently
normal testicles fully descended in to the scrotum.
