APPEARANCE
Lightly built, narrow
bodied, find boned & functional hound of professional hunters, not
demanding much care and least prone to diseases.
TEMPERAMENT
Looks quiet, exhibits
stoic aloofness, capable of withstanding all hazards of hard and
neglected living, placid and reserved when not at hunt, happiest
outdoors.
Characteristics
Primarily a desert variety
of gaze hounds, also works on brush-scents when close to the game,
normally looking meek, sleepy and uninterested in things around, but
hunts with extreme concentration and rare keenness equally well on dry
or marshy lands. The breed is generally found scattered all over
Maharashtra state of India and mostly kept by tribals, history lost in
antiquity.
